Filling Education Gap in Rural India

In the migrant community of Madhavi, just northeast of Mumbai, India, extreme poverty has left many children without a formal education. Since 2005 CRS has worked with a local partner to provide children with opportunities to continue their education by reintegrating them back into the educational system.

The program provides salaries and training to community members to teach children in a classroom setting. Additionally, the program has helped women form savings and lending groups from which they can eventually draw loans to fund start-up businesses or expand existing ones.
