This past Friday, CRS President Ken Hackett addressed our staff in Kenya at a town hall meeting. During his talk, Ken acknowledged the agency’s need to tighten its belt due to difficult financial times.

Quoting Abraham Lincoln, he said, “The occasion is piled high with difficulty, and we must rise with the occasion. As our case is new, so we must think anew and act anew.”

He also thanked our supporters for making sacrifices of their own to continue funding our work through generous donations.

“He gave us a lot of hope,” said Gilbert Namwonja, CRS Kenya’s information officer, about Ken’s speech. “In spite of the financial crisis, the outlook for projects in east Africa is good and encouraging for us.”

“We’re holding on, and we want to be ready to take off when this crisis ends,” Ken also stated.
