Well, here we are at the end of July. Summer is flying by so quickly! It’s hard to believe that Congress’s last week in session before their summer recess is this coming week. And it looks as if they’ll be leaving town with a great deal of work still on the table, most notably the Farm Bill, funding for poverty-focused international assistance and immigration reform.
During the congressional recess August 5-September 6 your Representative and Senators will be in their home district. This is the best time to make your voice heard on the global poverty issues you’ve been working on all year and that you care so much about. It’s also the most effective way to sway your members of Congress if they have not yet made up their mind on these important issues.
It’s easy to schedule a meeting with your Representative and Senators and it won’t take much of your time either. CRS Regional Office staff are here to help you do this and connect you with others in your area, so please don’t wait to contact them and get started.
In the next few weeks we will send out more detailed action alerts on these issues so be sure to keep a look out for those! You can use the action alerts in your meetings with your Representative and Senators. We will also provide talking points and any additional information you may need.
Don’t let summer and this incredible opportunity to advocate pass you by!
