Catholic Relief Services was honored this week as the recipient of the ‘Love Your Neighbor’ award by Catholic Digest magazine.
Catholic Digest joined with the National Catholic Development Conference in their effort to assist charities that are making a difference in the global community. As part of Catholic Digest’s annual “Make Your World a Better Place” campaign, readers recognized CRS as their favorite charity of 2010.
“I am particularly pleased to be able to receive the award here at the National Catholic Development Conference where, over the past two days here in Chicago, I had the opportunity to be reminded time and again of the truth that fundraising is a ministry,” said Mark Melia, Deputy Vice President of Charitable Giving.
“I believe that this award reflects the great story of how the U.S. Catholic community, through CRS, has provided hope to earthquake survivors in Haiti as well as many, many others in need of hope throughout the world.”
