I was very sorry to read this news, albeit several months after the fact. I worked with Jim on his first assignment with CRS in the Kingdom of Lesotho. He was a great boss and a wonderful mentor. He recognized in me a kindred spirit and like him, I also spent most of my career as a “field guy.” I thought I was going to have a chance to work with Jim again in The Gambia back in 1981, and, much to my disappointment, I was instead deployed to Liberia. Although I had hoped that our paths would cross again, sadly, that was not the case. I lost track of Jim over the years, but always remembered the time we spent together fondly. Jim’s passing is a lost for his family, CRS, Africa, and our nation. God bless him.
