Thanks to all the Catholic institutions and groups that have graciously helped CRS from the outset of the Haiti earthquake disaster. Below is an excerpt from a publication by Catholic Charities in the Archdiocese of New Orleans:
Dear Friends and Supporters,
As we watch this international tragedy unfold in Haiti, the people of Haiti are fighting for their lives and seeking support from our community.
Our faith family in the Archdiocese of New Orleans understands this tragedy in a profound way. In August 2005 we were faced with the largest disaster in US history. Although Catholic Relief Services (CRS) is an international disaster response organization that typically does not respond to disasters in the United States, they were instrumental in our response to Hurricane Katrina by providing staff with disaster response experience to help guide us through the initial phases of disaster.
