Coupling village savings and lending groups with our cash-for-work program in Burundi has helped thousands of residents become more self-reliant in the long-term. While cash-for-work provides immediate income to thousands of residents who work on soil erosion control projects, saving groups allow residents to accumulate more financial capital to start small businesses and reduce the impact of chronic food shortages.
